Terms of Use
Effective July 29, 2026 · Last reviewed July 29, 2026
These terms apply to everyone who uses this website. They are short on purpose. The important part is the first section.
This website is information, not care
Everything on this site is general information about psychiatric conditions and about our practice. It is not medical advice, it is not a diagnosis, and it is not a substitute for an evaluation by a qualified clinician who knows your history.
Reading this site, filling in a self-assessment, sending the contact form or booking an appointment does not by itself make you our patient. A clinician–patient relationship begins when you are seen for an evaluation and we agree to provide care — not before.
Never delay seeking care, and never stop or change a medication, because of something you read here.
The self-assessment tools
The questionnaires on our Services page are validated screening instruments used widely in clinical practice. They are screening tools, which means they are designed to flag when a conversation is worth having. They are not diagnostic tests.
- A high score does not mean you have a condition.
- A low score does not mean you do not have one.
- Only a clinical evaluation can tell you what is actually going on.
Your answers stay in your browser and are never transmitted to us or to anyone else. We do not receive your score and cannot follow up on it. If a result concerns you, bring it to an appointment or contact the office.
The instruments are used under the terms that apply to each of them and are attributed on the page where they appear.
Communicating with us through this site
The contact form is for scheduling and general questions. It is not a secure or confidential channel and should not be used for symptoms, medical history or any other health information. We cannot guarantee how quickly we will see a message sent through it, and it must never be used for anything urgent.
Text messages
If you give us your mobile number, we may text you about your appointments. You choose whether to receive these, consent is never a condition of getting care, and you can reply STOP at any time to end them or HELP for assistance. Message and data rates may apply. We never sell your number or share it with anyone for their marketing. Full detail is in our Privacy Policy.
Booking and payment
Appointments are booked through PracticeQ, a third-party scheduling system with its own terms. Fees, cancellation windows and no-show policies are provided to you when you book and in your patient paperwork. Self-pay patients are entitled to a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges under the federal No Surprises Act, which we provide automatically and will provide sooner on request.
Using this site properly
Please do not attempt to break into, overload, scrape or interfere with the site, and do not use it to send anything unlawful or harmful. Access may be withdrawn from anyone who does.
What belongs to whom
The text, design, photographs and code on this site belong to Koehler Mental Health and Wellness or to the people we licensed them from. You are welcome to read, print and share pages for your own personal or clinical use. Republishing or reusing them commercially requires our written permission. The screening instruments themselves belong to their respective authors and are credited where they appear.
Links to other sites
We link to crisis lines, insurers, the booking system and the patient portal because they are useful. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content or their practices.
The legal necessities
This website is provided as it is. We work to keep it accurate and available, but we do not warrant that it will be error-free or uninterrupted, and to the extent the law allows we are not liable for losses arising from use of the site itself. Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for the clinical care we actually provide, and nothing here excludes any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California.
If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, that part is severed and the rest continues to apply. Not enforcing a provision on one occasion does not waive it.
Accessibility
We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA across this site. If anything here is difficult to use, please tell us — details are on our Accessibility Statement.
Changes
We may update these terms. The effective date at the top will change when we do, and continuing to use the site means the current version applies.
